A Timeless Legacy
A Legacy Formed Over Billions of Years
For centuries, diamonds have represented rarity, strength, love, and timeless beauty. Formed deep within the Earth under extraordinary pressure and heat over billions of years, each diamond is a natural miracle unlike any other gemstone. Throughout history, diamonds have adorned royalty, marked life's most meaningful moments, and become treasured heirlooms passed down through generations.
Today, the Gemological Institute of America (GIA) remains the world's leading authority in diamond grading and education. The GIA established the internationally recognized grading system known as the Four Cs: Carat, Clarity, Color, and Cut — creating the universal standard by which diamonds are evaluated across the world.
Understanding the Four Cs allows you to appreciate not only the beauty of a diamond, but also the craftsmanship, rarity, and value that make each stone truly unique.

Carat
Weight is only the beginning.
Carat refers to the weight of a diamond, not its physical size. One carat equals 200 milligrams and is divided into 100 points, allowing diamonds to be measured with exceptional precision.
While larger diamonds are generally more rare and valuable, two diamonds of equal carat weight can appear very different depending on their cut proportions and overall design. A beautifully cut diamond with exceptional brilliance may appear larger and more impressive than a heavier diamond with poor proportions.
The balance between carat weight, cut quality, and overall beauty is what ultimately defines a remarkable diamond.
Carat weight often has the greatest visual impact at first glance, but it should never be viewed independently from the other Three Cs.

Clarity
Every inclusion tells a story.
Clarity measures the presence of natural internal characteristics called inclusions and external characteristics known as blemishes. The GIA Clarity Scale ranges from Flawless (FL) to Included (I).
In many cases, inclusions are microscopic and invisible to the naked eye, allowing a diamond to appear perfectly clean in everyday wear. An "eye-clean" diamond — even graded SI2 — is typically more desired than a higher-graded stone with visible characteristics.
Clarity is not simply about perfection — it is about rarity and individuality. Each diamond possesses a unique internal fingerprint, making every stone one of a kind.
Selecting the ideal clarity grade involves finding the perfect balance between rarity, beauty, and value.

Color
The rarest diamonds show no color at all.
The most valuable white diamonds are prized for their absence of color. The GIA Color Scale grades diamonds from D to Z — D representing completely colorless, with increasing traces of warmth appearing further down the scale.
Colorless diamonds allow light to pass through more freely, creating exceptional brightness and fire. Generally, diamonds that are J or higher on the color scale will appear white in sunlight — however, side-by-side you will notice the difference between a J and an F color diamond.
Warmer diamonds can also possess extraordinary beauty and character, particularly when paired with certain metal colors and vintage-inspired designs.
The ideal color selection depends on personal preference, design style, and the overall appearance desired.

Cut
The artistry that unlocks a diamond's soul.
Cut is often considered the most important of the Four Cs because it directly influences a diamond's brilliance, sparkle, and life. Unlike the other characteristics, cut is determined by human craftsmanship.
A masterfully cut diamond reflects light internally and disperses it back through the top of the stone, creating exceptional brightness, fire, and scintillation. Even a diamond with exceptional color and clarity may appear dull if cut poorly.
At Diamonds by Dávalos, each diamond is hand-selected for Cut by a GIA Graduate Gemologist — because Cut is the artistry behind the stone. The precision that transforms a natural crystal into a masterpiece of light and brilliance.
A superior cut unlocks the full potential of a diamond. It is the precision that transforms a natural crystal into a masterpiece of light.
Timeless Value
Every diamond
tells a story.
A diamond's value is never defined by a single characteristic alone. The true beauty of a diamond comes from the harmony between all Four Cs, combined with expert craftsmanship and personal meaning.
Whether selected to celebrate love, success, family, or legacy — every diamond tells a story that will endure for generations. Every diamond selected will be individualized for every client's needs. We maximize beauty, fire and desire.
